The Hospital in Al Hasa is a 300-bed capacity and provides primary and secondary patient care. Including: Outpatient Clinics, Pharmacy, four Operating Rooms and Day Surgery Operation Room. It also includes eight beds for Haemodialysis, Physical Therapy Department, Radiology Department, Endoscopy, ER, ICU, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department with two rooms for caesareans and six L & D rooms. Wards include: Male and Female patient wards, Gynaecology, Obstetrics and female surgery. male surgical ophthalmology, ENT and a VIP ward. UNIT NAME Oncology Inpatient Unit (Ward 8) PATIENT POPULATION Male and Female: > 12 years of age NUMBER OF BEDS 8 beds (located within a General Surgical Unit) OCCUPANCY RATE 69% HOURS OF OPERATION 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. (12½ hour shift pattern) STAFF CATEGORIES Nurse Manager Staff Nurse I Staff Nurse II Unit Assistant PRIMARY PATIENT DIAGNOSES / CONDITIONS Patients present with a range of haematological malignancies and solid tumours including: - Leukaemia - Multiple Myeloma - Breast Cancer - Colorectal Cancer - Lung Cancer - Head and Neck Cancer- PROCEDURES (EXAMPLES) Administration of both curative and palliative intravenous chemotherapy. Supportive treatment including: - Blood and blood product transfusions - Administration of antibiotics - Pain management Management of treatment related complications including: - Neutropenic sepsis - Gastrointestinal toxicities - Tumour Lysis Syndrome Management of oncological emergencies: - Spinal cord compression - Superior Vena Cava Obstruction - Hypercalcaemia |
