Client hospital in Riyadh is a 900-bed state-of-the-art tertiary care medical center dedicated to delivering health care services of the highest international standard. The facility includes a busy Cardiac Surgery and Liver & Kidney transplant Center, a 21-bed Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Care and Trauma Centers, in addition to advanced Medical, OB/GYN, Pediatric, and Surgery departments performing all major surgeries-including conjoined twin separation (11 conjoined twin separates have been performed successfully to date, which is phenomenal worldwide). UNIT NAME -Pre- Operative Assessment Clinic PATIENT POPULATION 250- 300/week NUMBER OF BEDS 3 Examination room 1 Screening HOURS OF OPERATION 0800-1800 Saturday to Tuesday 0800-1700 Wednesday 5 days a week This clinic is closed during religious holidays PRIMARY PATIENT DIAGNOSES/ CONDITIONS Our function is the assessment of patients who will undergo anesthesia to identify the risk and the suitability of patient, to the proposed surgery. This is a nurse-led clinic. Physical assessment/ evaluation skills are mandatory. A critical/ ICU background is advisable. PROCEDURES (Examples) Physical assessment, psychological assessment, pre-op teaching Glucometer blood sugar test Future plans include ECG recording/ blood extraction, x-rays, consultation. |
