JOB TITLE MECHANICAL ENGINEER RESPONSIBLE TO: Project Manager, Mechanical BASIC FUNCTION: Designs mechanical systems. prepares drawings and layouts for Hospital. wide projects and oversee installation. PRINCIPAL DUTIES Communicates with Hospital Departments at various levels to discuss and identify needs and requirements. Designs and prepares mechanical systems including drawings (plumbing, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration water and sewage treatment, fire systems, medical gas systems, etc.) to strictly conform with international codes, standards and professional practices. Coordinates mechanical systems with architectural components of the building and other disciplines. Prepares site plans and utility drawings. Selects and specifies material and equipment as required fro systems designed by him or as required and appropriate. Prepares technical specifications and Bills of Quantities. Inspects work designed by him and/or others. Supervises on-sit construction for compliance with the contract's technical specifications. Performs progress monitoring and quality assurance reviews. Reviews, recommends approval of shop drawings, product data and samples submitted by contractors. Prepares/updates as-built drawings. Reviews Change Orders and substitutions. . EDUCATION" Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Fluency in English both written and oral is required. EXPERIENCE & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Experience from maintaining or building hospitals/health care facilities is necessary. Six (6) years, with a Bachelors degree includinga proven record in the design specification and construction of mechanical systems for new and existing buildings, in a large health care facility setting. Knowledge of US codes and standards such as NFPA, ASME, UL, and ASHRAE. Skilled in AutoCad Microsoft office Primavera and/or Microsoft projects and engineering calculation software. |
