| Description | Our Client Hospital Trust is the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe. The hospital is a partnership of two specialist hospitals in London which are known throughout the world for their expertise. Each year between 500 and 600 papers by researchers associated with the Trust are published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, such as The Lancet and New England Journal of Medicine.
The Hospital serves more than 90,000 outpatients and 26,000 inpatients each year. On an annual basis staff perform over: 3,000 angiograms; 1,800 thoracic surgery operations; 2,400 coronary angioplasties; 2,000 treatments for respiratory failure; and 1,200 heart bypass operations. Services for children were given the highest possible 'excellent' rating in the most recent Healthcare Commission survey.. The Trust is Europe's top-ranked respiratory research centre and the cardiac, cardiovascular and critical care teams are rated in the top three most highly cited health research teams in Europe. The Heart Attack Centre has pioneered the use of primary angioplasty for the treatment of heart attacks. The on-site foetal cardiology service enables clinicians to begin caring for babies while still in the womb; many are scanned at just 12 weeks, when the heart measures just over a millimetre. Europe's largest unit for the treatment of cystic fibrosis is based at the Hospital: The hospital is the country's largest centre for the treatment of adult congenital heart disease 26-bedded unit, with a 4 bedded HDU enabling us to invasively and non-invasively monitor patients. We care for patients requiring cardiac intervention, heart failure, mechanical (IABP) and respiratory (CPAP) support and electrophysiology. As a member of our team you will have the ability to support and mentor junior members of staff and the Ward Sister in providing a unified approach to achieving high standards of patient care. For this role you will be required to be RN Level 1 demonstrate competence in managing cardiology patients in a general ward setting and HDU environment. A relevant post Cardiac and Teaching course or equivalent experience is essential. To assist in continuing your professional development, you will be provided with the opportunity to attend relevant Trust and/or University courses. |
