| Description | Our Client Hospital is a 900 bedded tertiary referral hospital. The trust is proud to be one of the best performing North Central London trusts particularly for MRSA and Mortality rates (best performing), readmission rates in top 2 best performing. The services include a major accident and emergency service, all branches of surgery and medicine, a renal service serving the whole of north London, paediatrics, maternity services, care of elderly people, an adolescent psychiatric service and one of two high security infectious diseases units in the country.
They are renowned for their specialist services including liver, kidney and bone marrow transplantation, renal, AIDS/HIV, infectious diseases, plastic surgery, immunology, paediatric gastroenterology, ENT surgery and audiological medicine, amyloidosis and scleroderma. The Hospital is a leading cancer centre with a range of specialist diagnostic and treatment services in oncology and haematology and a major neuroscience base with a network extending throughout north London and into the Home Counties. There are associated internationally recognised research and training programmes. You should hold either a recognised ODP or nursing qualification in anaesthetic practice. You will also have experience at Band 5 across all anaesthetic specialties. The Main Operating Department is a seventeen theatre department and two post anaesthetic care units. The department supplies staff to the two labour suites on level five and covers procedures in special suite, CT scan and paediatric endoscopy. The Hospital is one of seven liver transplant centres within the UK and currently performs over 60 liver transplants per year. The hospital has recently applied to become a trauma centre, if this application is successful the aim is to build a further two theatres to provide this service. Currently the trauma is run the in the emergency theatre. This theatre is operational twenty four hours a day along with the neurosurgical theatre. All specialities are covered with the exception of cardio thoracic surgery. A large proportion of the work involves the plastic surgery speciality as the hospital is a regional hand trauma unit. A recent innovation is the integrated laparoscopic theatre, the aim is to build a second integrated theatre within the next year. Major laparoscopic procedures are performed here along with live donor nephrectomies, renal transplants and renal access procedures. Another planned development is the conversion of the vascular theatre into an endovascular theatre. The unit performs over 50 endovascular aneurysm repairs yearly and hopes to increase this in the future. There are places for the advanced anaesthetic and theatre practitioner courses which are run twice yearly. Introduction to management programmes and management diplomas are also available to interested personnel. Nurse led endoscopic courses are part of the future education programme. |
