Job Description

JOB TITLE: Education Coordinator
RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Chief of Nursing Affairs

BASIC FUNCTION:

Promotes optimal nursing care throughout the hospital by evaluation learning needs of nursing staff, planning, developing, coordinating and conducting educational programs utilizing principles of Performance Improvements and Evidence Based Practice for nursing service employees.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

- Develops curricula, course outlines, training manuals, audiovisual materials, and testing methods for service area programs and for Nursing Affairs programs
- Conducts educational programs which enable staff to achieve certification in specialty areas of nursing to achieve a BSN degree, to meet continuing education unit (CEU) requirements for re-licensure, to facilitate nursing employees to meet requirements for promotion, to assist Nursing to meet JCIA standards, and to promote patient education programs.
- Plans, coordinates and provides comprehensive nursing orientation programs
- Supervises, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding retention, remedial actions and/or dismissal of new nursing orientees/employees.
- Evaluates nursing employees recommended for promotion to determine and report on their knowledge, clinical skills, and performance levels needed to meet promotional requirements.
- Mentors Nurse Clinicians by providing orientation, acting as a resource person, providing direction, supervising and participating in the evaluation process.
- Collaborates with Nursing Administration in developing, standards, policies, procedures and evaluation methods for determining the quality of nursing care.
- Promotes the goal of Saudization in the Kingdom’s health care system by collaborating with area health care education agencies and coordinating clinical experiences of nursing students within the hospital.
- Develops, coordinates and conducts Kingdom-wide educational programs in the form of symposiums, seminars, workshops and specialty area clinical training.
- Initiates and/or participates in research activities and publications related to education, health, and health care.
- Assists with the deliverance of optimal care through consultation with Nursing Administration and Quality Improvement.
- Establishes and achieves targets for Saudization and nationality mix in areas of responsible, consistent with strategic plan of Nursing and Medical and Clinical Operations.
- Participates in Hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities.
- Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Master’s Degree in Nursing or related discipline required. Current Registered Nurse licensure from country of origin required.

EXPERIENCE & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Eight (8) years acute care hospital nursing/and or teaching experience including one (1) year in Staff Development or teaching required.
